Have you heard You Loved Me Anyway by Sidewalk Prophets? If you haven't you should listen to it. It plays often on the radio and I have the CD at home, but every time I hear it I am stopped by this little section:
I am the thorn in Your crown
But You love me anyway
I am the sweat from Your brow
But You love me anyway
I am the nail in Your wrist
But You love me anyway
I am Judas' kiss
But You love me anyway
But You love me anyway
I am the sweat from Your brow
But You love me anyway
I am the nail in Your wrist
But You love me anyway
I am Judas' kiss
But You love me anyway
We often hear about the thorns and the nails, and even about the drops of blood that Jesus sweat as he pleaded with the Father in Gethsemane. But how often do we think about Judas' kiss?? Somehow the other references do not effect me as that one does. Maybe it's because we've heard about them so much, or maybe it's because the kiss is a physical act. I hear this section of the song and I see myself in Judas' shoes. I betray my Master more than I would care to admit, but he loves me any way.
Here's the chorus:
But You love me anyway
It's like nothing in life that I've ever known
You love me anyway
Oh Lord, how You love me
How You love me
It's like nothing in life that I've ever known
You love me anyway
Oh Lord, how You love me
How You love me
Think about it. He loves us anyway... like nothing in this life we've ever know!
