Psalm 10:18

Do you ever just come across a verse or a phrase that strikes you? Something that screams that the author understood the topic extremely well.

Psalm 10:17-18... You hear, O Lord, the desire of the afflicted; you encourage them, and you listen to their cry, defending the fatherless and the oppressed, in order that man, who is of the earth, may terrify no more.

I literally had to stop reading.  Granted it is the end of the Psalm, but I had to pause there and reflect.  How well David describes the very nature of man.  How many of the greatest tragedies in history can be traced back to man's desire to dominate where in order to achieve that he terrifies everyone else??  How many encounters in every day present life sadly portray this aspect of mankind?
